Dates: June 15 - September 23.  The first three matches will be played within a months date and the where and when of the match will be decided by the players. Semi-Finals and Finals to be held at Harbour Town Golf Links on September 23.

Entry: $200.00 per player.  Your entry fee grants you two tournament greens fees, tournament cart fees, practice balls before your tournament round, tournament prizes, and a tee favor.

 

Field: The Field will be separated into six flights; the HHI Championship Flight and Five Amateur Flights(Championship, Senior, First, Second, Ladies).  The HHI Professionals, Championship, and Senior Flights will still be played at scratch.

 

Deadline: The entry deadline is Sunday, July 22 at 5:00 p.m.  All registration will go through the Hilton Head Open BlueGolf Registration webpage.  Refunds will not be granted should you choose to withdraw after Monday, July 23 at 5:00p.m.

 

Format: 36 - Individual Stroke Play (Flighted)

 

Tees: Professionals & Championship Flight Competitors will play approx. 6,300 yards

          Senior & Handicap Flight Competitors will play approx. 6,000 yards

          Female Professionals will play from approx 5,200 yards

          Ladies Flight Competitors will play from approx. 4,900 yards

 

Golf Cars: All contestants must use golf cars provided by the host club.  Only two riders per golf car is permitted.  Spectators are not permitted to ride

 

Dress Code: Players are to dress in a manner keeping with the traditions of the game of golf.  The Tournament Committee reserves the right to refuse any contestant inappropriately dressed.  Sea Pines Country Club is a soft spike facility. Cargo shorts with protruding pockets are not permitted.  Professional Men must wear slacks.

Haas & Straub Capture Win at 2014 AHEAD / E-Z-GO Carolinas PGA Pro-Pro Championship

 Jerry Haas and Tim Straub successfully defended their title as Champions at the 2014 AHEAD / E-Z-GO Carolinas PGA Pro-Pro Championship held at Pinehurst Resort this week in NC. Haas and Straub are the Men's Golf Coaches at Wake Forest University and Davidson College respectively. The duo posted rounds of 62-62-65=189 (-26) to finish six strokes ahead of the competition. This is their third Pro-Pro victory, also having won in 2010.   In the senior contest, the brothers David Thore, a PGA Life Member, and Daniel Thore, a PGA Teaching Professional at Wolf Creek GC, survived a one-hole playoff against Jon Hockaday and Doug Thompson, the PGA Directors of Golf at Anderson Creek GC and Southern Pines GC respectively.  Both teams finished tied at 203 (-12).  David Thore drained a 10-foot birdie putt on the first playoff hole to earn the win. CPGA Assistants' Association Donates to Scott Hannon Memorial Foundation

The Carolinas PGA Assistants' Association held its Annual Fall Meeting on Monday, November 24th at the Country Club of Lexington. The meeting focused on reviewing the 2014 season and discussing the future plans and goals of the Association for 2015. The Association also announced its 2014 Player of the Year, Alex Kowalski, PGA of Eagle Point Golf Club and presented its sponsor, The Golf Shop of Wake Forest, with an appreciation plaque. The highlight of the meeting was presenting a $1,500 donation to the Scott Hannon Memorial Foundation, the Association's benefiting charity for the 2014 season. Throughout the year, $5.00 was taken out of every tournament entry fee and put towards this donation for a good cause. The Association was lucky to have Trey Moore, Secretary of the foundation, in attendance to accept the donation. Haas & Lewallen Advance to 2015 Senior PGA Championship

Congratulations to Jerry Haas & Rick Lewallen in qualifying for the 2015 Senior PGA Championship.  Haas finished alone in 5th place, and Lewallen survived a playoff to earn the one of the final qualifying spots. The 72-hole championship featured 264 of the most competitive senior PGA Professionals in the Association. CPGA Member Jeff Crittenden Finishes 2nd
at RE/MAX World Long Drive Championships

  Jeff Crittenden, a Carolinas PGA Member and Director of Instruction at North Carolina Golf Academy, finished second at the RE/MAX World Long Drive Championship.  "Critter" and Jeff Flagg of Pelham, Alabama both hit drives of just over 365 yards.  The distances were so close that officials had to pull out the tape measure.  Flagg's drive finished only 13" ahead to earn the winner-take-all prize of $250,000. "I am still amazed that I made it into the final eight," said Crittenden. "This has been a dream of mine for the last eight years. I feel very honored to be a part of this great group of hitters." The 72-hole championship ran Oct. 2 - Nov. 2 on PGA GC's Wanamaker Course for the 19th consecutive year.  The field was cut to the low 70 players and ties following the second round of play. CPGA Member Brad Clayton Finishes 3rd
in ParaLong Drive Worlds

  Brad Clayton, PGA, finished third in the One-Arm Assisted Division of the Mesquite, NV ParaLong Drive Worlds.  He qualified for the semi-finals with only one-round of hitting with a drive of 271 yards and was seeded third.  Even though he had the second longest hit of the semis, he was paired up in a match play battle with Lucian Newman who edged Brad by two yards 281 to 279, knocking him out of the championship round.  John Rogers ended up winning the One-Arm Assisted title with a drive of 285 yards. Chip King Elected to CPGA Hall of Fame

The Carolinas PGA Section’s Hall of Fame is an exclusive group of the finest PGA Professionals and other leaders in golf who have called the Carolinas home.  The PGA of America lists 37 characteristics of PGA Professionals including being a motivator, community leader, business manager, accomplished player, trained instructor, counselor, and friend.  The Section’s Hall of Fame members have displayed these traits such as these over the span of their lives and careers to the benefit of their community and the game of golf at large.  These individuals have positively impacted countless individuals through professional and personal relationships.  Chip King, the PGA Director of Golf at Grandfather Golf & Country Club in Linville, NC will be the 45th member of the CPGA Hall of Fame.   View More...

Haas Wins CPGA Professional Championship Wire-to-Wire

>>> Recap & complete results (Durham, NC) – Jerry Haas, PGA, the Men’s Golf Coach at Wake Forest University, won the 2014 Carolinas PGA Professional Championship held at Duke University Golf Club in Durham, NC. After rounds of 67-72=139 (-5), Haas entered the final round with a two-stroke lead over three others.  He may have felt some pressure on the first few holes by making three straight bogeys.  However, Haas righted the ship reeling off three birdies out of the next four holes.  He played level par for the rest of his round to finish the championship with a 37-35=72 (E) to total 211 (-5).         View More...

Patriot Golf Day

On Labor Day weekend, golfers across the country were asked to add an extra dollar to their greens fees to fund Folds of Honor scholarships.  Many golf facilities around the country went far beyond that.  The Patriot Golf Day campaign is jointly supported by The PGA of America and the United States Golf Association.  In the last seven years, golfers nationwide have been instrumental in raising donations through Patriot Golf Day events, resulting in over 7,500 scholarships in all 50 states and 41 PGA sections. Club Car CPGA Pro-Official Championship

PGA Head Professional Charles Frost and Club Owner Chris Randolph from Kiawah Island Club - River Course won the Club Car CPGA Pro-Official Championship by way of a chip-off.  They finished tied at 64 (-7) with PGA Director of Golf T.J. Bridges and Club President Doug Cullen from River Hills CC. Amateur Casey Smith Wins in First Senior Appearance

In his first ever CPGA senior tournament appearance, amateur Casey Smith won the 2014 Yeamans Hall CPGA Senior Open held at the renowned Yeamans Hall Club in Charleston, SC on Tuesday & Wednesday, August 26-27, 2014.     Wake Forest University Men's Golf Coach Jerry Haas, PGA, won the professional division of the CPGA Senior Championships held at Cape Fear National in Leland, NC. Haas, along with 6 other CPGA Professionals, qualified to compete in the 26th Senior PGA Professional National Championship in November at PGA Golf Club. CPGA Member Jerry Haas Competes at US Senior Open

Carolinas PGA Member and golf coach at Wake Forest University Jerry Haas, PGA was in the field and made the cut at the 2014 US Senior Open. With rounds of 78-71-74-69 for a total of 292 (+8), Haas finished in a tie for 33rd place. The tournament was held at Oak Tree National in Edmond, Oklahoma. Haas made it through qualifying for the championship at Florence Country Club in Florence, SC with a score of 68. Oak Tree National is a familiar place to Haas, as he made it to the semifinals of the US Amateur there in 1984. For the second time since he turned 50 last September, Jerry competed with his brother Jay Haas, who is second on the Champions Tour money list this year. CPGA Pro-Assistant Championship

The team of Larry George, PGA and Jeff Hale, PGA have captured the 2014 Carolinas PGA Pro-Assistant Championship.Presented by Greg Norman and Dunning Golf. George and Hale, both PGA Professionals at the host club of the tournament, River Landing Country Club in Wallace, NC, successfully defended their title as 2013 CPGA Pro-Assistant Champions. The format for the tournament consists of two rounds of four-ball stroke play where two competitors play as partners, each playing his/her own ball.  The lower score of the two partners is the score for the hole. George and Hale put together two rounds filled with birdies for a 17-under par total of 62-67=127 to win the tournament by two strokes. Giving the defending champions a scare after posting their second-round 62 were Mike Cato, PGA (Bradford Creek Golf Club in Greenville, NC) with Rohan Allwood (Woodlands CC in Columbia, SC). Cato and Allwood finished with 67-62=129 for second place.
