Last Call for 64th South Carolina Open Players

This year's South Carolina Open takes place April 22-23 (*this event falls two months earlier than last year). This is a reminder to register for the 64th South Carolina Open Presented by Yamaha Golf Cars.  Scenic Dataw Island Club and its Cotton Dike course will play host.  The course was renovated in 2011, and in late April, the weather in the Lowcountry should hopefully be perfect.   This year, the tournament is 36-holes over two days.  The third round was eliminated in the hopes that more people can get away for two days of fun competition than can for three. 21st Tar Heel Cup Matches finish in a draw

The 21st Tar Heel Cup Matches finished in a draw after two days of play at River Landing Country Club in Wallace, NC. Two teams of the best playing amateurs and PGA Professionals from North Carolina met to conduct these friendly annual matches. With each match worth one point, the PGA Professionals jumped out to an early 3-1 lead in the first day's four-ball matches.  However, the amateurs battled hard to win five of the eight singles matches the next day. It takes 6½ points to win the cup outright.  Since the matches finished in a 6-6 tie, the Carolinas Golf Association (CGA) will retain the cup until next year.  The Professionals' all time record is now 13 wins, 5 losses, and 3 ties; however, the amateurs are on a six-year unbeaten streak. Both the Carolinas PGA Section (CPGA) and the CGA extend their sincere thanks to the members and staff of River Landing for their incredible hospitality.   NC Amateurs (white attire); NC PGA Professionals (blue attire) PAST CHAMPIONS 1995 - Amateurs 1996 - Professionals 1997 - Professionals 1998 - Professionals 1999 - Professionals 2000 - Amateurs 2001 - Professionals 2002 - Professionals 2003 - Professionals 2004 - Professionals 2005 - Professionals 2006 - Professionals 2007 - Professionals 2008 - Professionals 2009 - Professionals 2010 - Tie 2011 - Tie 2012 - Amateurs 2013 - Amateurs 2014 - Amateurs 2015 - Tie Full Tournament Results View More...

CAROLINAS PGA LEADS NATION IN DONATIONS TO FOLDS OF HONOR

Browns Summit, N.C. (March 11, 2015) – The Carolinas PGA Section is proud to once again lead the nation in raising funds for the Folds of Honor Foundation. In 2014, the Carolinas PGA and over 175 of its facilities raised more than $500,000 through various events and initiatives. This includes Patriot Golf Day, which asks golfers every Labor Day weekend to add an extra dollar to their greens fees in order to help fund Folds of Honor Scholarships.   Folds of Honor provides scholarships and other educational assistance to the spouses and dependents of those that have been killed or disabled in military service. Since its founding in 2007, the organization has awarded over 7,500 scholarships, including more than 2,000 in 2014.   “I met PGA Professional, CEO and Founder of Folds of Honor, Major Dan Rooney at a PGA Annual Meeting in 2007 when he first addressed the delegation about launching Patriot Golf Day. His vision for this initiative immediately caught my attention as well as that of our three officers,” says Ron Schmid, CPGA Executive Director. “From that point on, the Section has made it a priority to help grow awareness for the Foundation year round.”   “I speak for myself and the entire Section when I say I couldn’t be more honored to support Major Dan and Folds of Honor year after year,” continues Schmid. “Our donation milestone for 2014 speaks volumes as to how much of an impact the Folds of Honor Foundation has made on golf professionals, not only in the Carolinas, but in the entire country.”   Tony Biata, Vice President of Patriot Golf Day, adds, “None of this would be possible if it weren’t for great supporters like the Carolinas PGA. We are very fortunate to have this #1 ranked section lead the charge year after year.”   View More...
