Jerry Haas Holds Lead to Win 94th Carolinas Open

Greensboro, NC – The final round of the 94th Carolinas Open at Starmount Forest Country Club is complete. It was a beautiful day for the 60 players who made the cut to compete for the title at this prestigious event.

PGA Professional, Jerry Haas, the head golf coach of Wake Forest, has come out on top and won our longest running CPGA major event. Haas held the lead all three days and had a great jumpstart to the event, shooting 8-under-par in the first round of play. While he shot even-par in the second round, it still kept him ahead of the field with the trophy in sight. Today, the mindset to “get off with a great start,” proved successful for him as he did just that and kept it up for the entirety of the round to finish at 11-under-par for the 54-hole event. When reflecting on his final round, Haas said “I was trying not to get ahead of myself and I did a pretty good job with that.” With some special mojo on the field from his uncle, Bob Goalby’s, win in the 1958 Greensboro Open on this course, Haas stretched ahead of the field and never turned back. “It was my week.”

Wallace, NC – The second and final round of the 2018 Pro-Assistant Championship is complete after another day full of impressive and exciting golf. Other than a brief bit of rain, the players were in luck when some bad weather decided to narrowly miss River Landing to allow for an overall smooth day on the River Course.

The TPC Wakefield Plantation team, Adam McLaughlin and Matt Brennan, tied for the lead with Walnut Creek CC Professional, Clark Rose and Neal Lancaster. Both teams finished at 16-under par after the 36-hole event, taking them to a playoff on the 18 hole. McLaughlin and Brennan held their lead through this playoff when McLaughlin birdied the par-4 while the Rose/Lancaster team made a steady par.

Faraci Holds Lead to Win the 67th South Carolina Open

(Hilton Head, SC) – Amateur, Jack Faraci, of Long Island, NY, came out on top to win the 67th South Carolina Open, presented by Yamaha and Mobipaid. Faraci dominated the Devil’s Elbow South Course at Moss Creek Golf Club in Hilton Head, SC for the 54-hole event.

Faraci posted three low rounds for the tournament, taking the lead in the second round. As an incoming senior at the University of South Carolina Beaufort, he has played in many competitive events. “The course set up really well for me all three days,” says Faraci. When thinking forward for what he has planned in the next few months, this win is only a light at a beginning for him. “It’s going to be a good summer.” Faraci won another event at Moss Creek recently, so he is very familiar with this track, which was evident from this win.
